In a scene dated spring 1970, Resnek recalls being on the White House grounds when President Richard Nixon told him to cut his hair. That encounter gave the manuscript its working title: Nixon Told Me To Cut My Hair.
April 1971: Vietnam Veterans Against the War
The manuscript also places Resnek at the April 1971 Senate and Vietnam Veterans Against the War events in Washington and at the medal-return demonstration. In his separately approved firsthand recollection, Resnek remembers standing about two feet from John Kerry.
